The social network Facebook announced on Monday it reached an agreement to purchase the photo sharing application Instagram for $1,000 million in cash and shares of the company. Both can be access via internet connection.

“I am very happy to announce that we have agreed to buy Instagram, and his talented team is joining Facebook,” said the chief executive of social network, Mark Zuckerberg in a statement.

“For years, we have focused on creating the best experience to share photos with friends and family,” said the founder of Facebook. “Now, we will be working even more closely with the team Instagram to offer the best alternatives great pictures to share with others according to their own interests,”said the chief executive of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg.

“We believe that these 2 systems will complement each other, but at the same time we will keep in mind the maintenance and development advantages of Instagram rather than integrate it to Facebook, Instagram will maintain its independence,” said Zuckerberg

What is Instagram?

Instagram is a social network app which allows you to share pictures taken from any mobile device with internet access . One of the main advantages of the app is its ability to apply different filters that can be applied to the pics and then have the option to share the pic across various social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare.

The company was started in San Francisco California by Kevin Storm and Mike Krieguer , its focuses on HTML5 features to Photography. The app was launched officially on October 6, 2010.

By August of 2011, there were 150 million photos uploaded and April 2012 were 30 million active accounts; plenty of them with a Comcast internet connection.

Instagrams was mainly created for iphone OS for Apple, but just last week it was launched for Android last Apirl 3rd, at the release it was announced that the Android version will have the same filter features as the IOS version for Apple.
